Teachers

Cathy Anderson, director of Yoga Center of Newton, is a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500-hour level. She has practiced yoga since 1995 and taught since 2002, primarily influenced by master teachers Aadil Palkhivala and Judith Hanson Lasater. Cathy's classes seek to inspire students with the joy and self-confidence that yoga can bring.

Suzanne Chapek is a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500-hour level. She began teaching yoga in 1986 and founded Yoga Center of Newton in 1997. She studies with senior teachers from several traditions and creatively combines the techniques in her classes. She focuses on helping students listen to the wisdom of their bodies and hearts.

Lynette Roth has taught at the Yoga Center since 2001. Introduced to yoga by Suzanne Chapek and influenced by master teachers Angela Farmer and Erich Schiffmann, she playfully and compassionately expands students’ awareness of what they can do with their bodies and models the positive power of moving into stillness.

Barbara Thiesen has taught at the Yoga Center since 2006. She implemented and teaches the yoga studies program at Bethel College, where she helps students learn to reduce stress and listen to their bodies. Barbara is pursuing studies in therapeutic yoga.
